La Laja Cone is likely to be the youngest eruption site in the Pinacate judging from the 40Ar/39Ar age result of 12 ± 4 thousand years (Gutmann et al, 2000). Since I took this photo in March of 1970, the top of the cone has been removed during cinder mining operations. The Pinacate is now protected as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
