Sykes Crater, a. k. a. Crater Grande, is a young maar about 1 km in diameter and 219 m deep. The reddish remnants of a cinder cone are evident in its north-northwestern walls, and an older cinder cone lies just a bit further northwestward. The crater was named in 1908 after Godfrey Sykes, geographer of the 1907 Hornaday expedition.
